PGP Fish Soup Stall is, without a doubt, THE BEST food stall in PGP canteen. If there is one stall that I could eat from every single day and never get bored of, it would be this one. Everything here just hits the spot. Whether you are craving something warm and comforting or something crispy and satisfying, they have you covered.

The variety is honestly insane. You can go for their comforting soup or their delicious fried options, and there are so many combinations to choose from that every visit can feel like a different meal. For carbs alone, you can choose rice or practically every noodle you could possibly want—bee hoon, yee mian, yellow noodles, glass noodles, mee tai mak, and more. Then there are different soup options too, including pork and seafood. And somehow, on top of ALL THAT, they even have porridge and tomyum. You could probably eat here for an entire week without ordering the same combination twice.

But what really makes this stall special isn't just the variety—it's the taste. There is something incredibly comforting about their food. The soup is warm, flavourful and satisfying, the fried dishes are equally good, and somehow everything carries this unmistakable taste of home. It is the kind of meal you want after a long, exhausting day of classes when you just need something warm to revive your soul.

No gimmicks, no fancy presentation needed. Just genuinely good, comforting food with endless choices. PGP has many food options, but this fish soup stall will always have a special place in my heart. Come here hungry, order whatever catches your eye, and you will understand.

This restaurant was never part of the plan.

We had been walking around for most of the afternoon and were getting hungry. The places we originally saved were either too far away or had long queues, so we started looking at whatever was nearby instead.

We passed this restaurant once without paying much attention to it. It looked decent, but nothing about the entrance made it seem like somewhere we had to try. A few minutes later, after failing to agree on anywhere else, we came back.

Our expectations were basically: get something to eat, rest for a while, then continue the trip.

The menu was fairly simple, so we ordered a few dishes that sounded safe. Nothing was chosen because it was famous or highly recommended. Honestly, we just picked what we actually felt like eating.

That made the first bite a surprise.

The food was noticeably better than we expected. The seasoning was strong enough to be interesting without overpowering everything, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the portions were generous without feeling excessive. Even the simpler dishes felt properly prepared rather than rushed.

What stood out most was that the meal didn't rely on anything flashy. There wasn't an elaborate presentation or some gimmick designed for photos. It was just food that tasted good.

We ended up slowing down instead of eating quickly and leaving. We ordered another dish, stayed longer than planned, and kept talking about how strange it was that this had been our backup choice.

The funny part is that if our original plans had worked out, we probably never would have eaten here at all.

That is probably what made the experience so memorable. We weren't comparing the restaurant against reviews, photos, or recommendations. Nobody had told us that a certain dish was a “must-order.” There was nothing for the restaurant to live up to.

We walked in hungry with almost no expectations and walked out thinking it was one of the better meals of the trip.

A pretty good accident.
